Sure, she inspires the world with her singing and painting, but you know what inspires me? Her Mommy soul. Kimya and Panda:

Chillin’ in downtown Portland at Jamison Square fountain on probably one of the last hot days of this Summer. Guess which brilliant photographer didn’t think to wear sandals?

I recently had the pleasure of photographing a cd release party for Abba DoSay.
This was one of the most fun photo sessions I have had, so laid back, tons of wonderfully nice people, good music outdoors, yummy food, the works. I’m discovering I really love photojournalism type work! I never thought that was my thing, but hey, maybe it is
So we have here: Charles-Vocals, and Katie-Vocals. Cory-Sax, David-Electric Guitar, Mike-Bass, Josh-Guitar, Charles-Drums, and Craig-Keyboards. Enjoy!

I met Jessica through her etsy shop found here: LanaHandknitting
And was very excited she was local here in Portland! She makes darling knits out of delicious yarns, and I had to get some new hats for all of your beautiful newborns to use in our photo sessions. For my photographer friends…she does customs, but get in line behind me!
So without further ado, Here is Jessica, and a few of my new hats, soon to be modeled on brand new little ones.

And here are a few words from Jessica:
“I have been knitting for seven or eight years now; I’ve always been crafty-minded, and I’d always wanted to learn to knit, but I’m left-handed and a kinesthetic dunce… so I asked some people who knew how to let me see what they were doing, and I played around a bit with some sticks and string until I had knots that looked pretty much like the right knots. SUCCESS!! Well, not quite, but I was definitely headed in the right direction. I resorted to free-designing and later consciously, intentionally designing my own knits early on, due to the lack of attractive/sensible/mistake-free patterns in The Knitting Universe. When I made the jump from simple colorwork and knit-and-purl patterned stitches to cable knitting a few years ago, I loved it– the texture, the sinuous movement, the ability to stylize themes three dimensionally! And it is *so* easy; I love it when beautiful things are easy.
I love good quality handspun yarn, which is generously supplied to me by my friend Sandie at Wild Rivers Wool (http://wildriverswool.com/), who also sells my finished work in handspun and commercial fibers on the Oregon coast. When I go to the local yarn shops, I’m always drawn to Noro, especially Kureyon Lite and Silk Garden Lite; I adore almost anything silk, rayon, or linen (expensive tastes!). I’m definitely a natural fibers snob; poo-poo to weird, scratchy acrylic yarn. I discovered that I hate mohair, after my mom sent me a huge box of it… whoops! So I don’t do much work in mohair if I can avoid it.”
Thank you Jessica, for making Portland babies just a little bit cuter
7-8 months old is one of my very favorite ages. They sit, they laugh, they smile, they love, they stay put pretty well.

Loving Mama

With her little friend

I liked this one with a vintage look. I love the little clunky “first” steps at this age!

I’m loving seeing these little ones outside in the sun, there is nothing sweeter
This is beautiful Lilah, almost 3 weeks old.

I’ve been wanting to get a newborn outdoors for quite some time, and finally got a taker
We have been having a warm week here, and of the course the Rose Test Garden up by the Oregon Zoo is a favorite location in the Summertime for photos.
